Clusterware Services: Gridscheduler
A cluster scheduler - also known as the batch scheduler, workload manager, queueing system or load-balancer can be deployed to manage the resources of one to thousands of dedicated compute machines between one or many users.
Alces Clusterware provides the Gridscheduler service - automatically creating and configuring a compute cluster using Sun Grid Engine in both baremetal and Cloud compute environments.
The following guide will cover the basics of using a Clusterware Gridscheduler compute environment, including:
- Overview of cluster schedulers
- Scheduler features
- Submitting a basic job script
- Submitting interactive, array and parallel/MPI job scripts
- Scheduler interactions
Typical architecture
Clusterware environments follow a traditional compute cluster architecture, comprised of a cluster 'master', and several compute nodes.
