Environment Access

Alces OpenStack environments are configured with a DMZ network - configured for users to interact with the created compute instances. To begin using the environment - users will need to authenticate to the provided VPN.

Once authenticated to the VPN - users will be able to interact with OpenStack services via GUI and command-line tools.

User authentication

User authentication is site dependent - some sites may opt to integrate with site-wide ActiveDirectory or LDAP services, other sites may choose to use a cluster-internal username/password authentication.

Contact your site administrator for details on the configuration, if a cluster-internal name service is used - your administrator should provide you with the appropriate username and password.

The username and password is used for authentication with:

  • Cluster VPN
  • OpenStack services (command-line and web interface)
